The Hunt Begins

No, not the hunt for the perfect hunk, I've already got that.. but the hunt for the perfect wedding dress! Day before yesterday Alex and I bought heaps of wedding magazines to have a look at (and to steal ideas) and the day after, we went to have a look at the beautiful gowns that are available for rent.

There were so many dresses on the racks that it was really hard to select and see which ones are the nicest. I realized that it's a lot easier if you come to the bridal shops with a design in mind already rather than going there clueless.

Some other places we had to curi-curi take picture, and others we couldn't do it at all.

I like this dress the best amongst all the ones that I tried. I like the fact that it has that diagonal line across the chest with different materials on each side. Looks like a bit of Thai influence? The way the cloth is falls/folds looks nice too.

One thing that irks me about all these wedding gowns is the fact that it's sooooo long! Even after wearing 3 inch heels I'm still drowning in them! The bridal shops will only do alterations for the side/back but not the length.

But I can't help it if I'm short!

What happens to all those brides that do not belong to the standard 6 foot, size 8 category? The wedding consultants keep insisting that it will look fine once I wear my 3 inch stilettos and lift my gown daintily while walking down the aisle. But I have a feeling that my nightmare of tripping while doing my wedding march will somehow become reality.

Oh, I remember that dress! You wore that on your wedding!

Neither do I want it to sit in my cupboard to slowly be eaten by moths as the years go by.

Someone told me that I can tailor-make the gown to fit me (like a virgin gown) but then the dress still gets returned to the bridal shop after that. Like renting, except fitted to your shape. The cost is not cheap though, probably between RM1500-2000+. Normal rentals are about RM800 onwards, depending on the shop.

My colour theme for the wedding is purple, silver and white. So I'm also on the lookout for a purple evening gown. I love this dress that I tried on.. it looks so princess-like!

It's not everyday I get to look like this so I better make full use of the opportunity!

Gown 03 looks great and that princess like gown really transforms you to a Cinderella - who has found her Prince, of course :D
