Today, I witnessed firsthand a devastating car accident. 3 chicks died instantaneously, and it was gory. Their fluids were all over and they were beyond recognition. The cause was solely because the driver was speeding along a little too fast and had an overloaded car. The sheer inertia caused them to be squashed really bad. Their other friends were safe and completely unharmed, though a little shaken up I'm sure. Who could this mad and crazy driver be? Will it continually play back on his mind and conscience? Will he ever be able to drive again? How will the rest of the chicks' families respond? The driver - ME. It is a sad, sad day and I feel the guilt and blood on my hands. The story is like this - I was returning from Tesco, after a massive shopping spree. I was out buying supplies for the upcoming LiveWire Charge Up! Conference. At the same time, I took the opportunity to stock up on supplies as we will be hosting some friends/speakers in our humble abode. Kee Sitt and Sharon, Louis and Jasmine and Jonathan. We have about 90+ delegates and speakers who will be present. As such, I purchased sausages, pizza, hash browns, desserts, fresh juices, eggs and 384 bottles of mineral water! It was a challenge to buy so much, as I was alone. Grace was off working. Me being me... I was a tad ambitious and tried to load up my trolley with the goodies all at one go. I mean, time savings are important, right? Well, that obviously didn't work out as by then, the trolley weighed about... 24 bottles x 16 cartons x 600ml = 230,400 ml which equates to 230.4 kg! Okay, so I had to get another trolley and load it up. The Tesco personnel were really nice, and assisted me with rolling the second trolley all the way to my car. Thanks, Habibi! So I started driving back, refuelled once (probably adding another 60kg of weight). And was heading Southbound on the LDP where there were lots of cars. I wasn't driving too fast, at least I didn't think so (what's 50km/h these days?). But because the cars were slowing down, I had to tap on my brakes a little harder than needed. Obviously, the boxes in the car tumbled down as well. BANG! That was when the accident happened. My heart sank, and my face must have shown it. I haven't had an accident in 8 years, not too bad a track record, I think. Since I had my pocket mobile phone camera handy with me, I thought I had better document the scene, lest anyone try to accuse me of knocking down anything else in addition to the 3 chicks. I offer the families of the chicks my humble and sincere apologies. I will try to drive slower, and not overload my car, in future. Here's a warning for everyone else too - be careful. Alright, on with lunch...
